5 interior trends for 2023 that you'll see all over Instagram

For some, New Year is all about resolutions. But we think it’s better to start with inspiration. As we step into 2023, we’re looking at the emerging interior design trends that will take over homes (and your Instagram feed).

1. The modern organic

As claimed by Australian Vogue Living: „Blame three years of living through a pandemic, but biophilic design continues to take off, with tons of designers taking their cues from nature via organic shapes and natural textures”. The modern organic trend reflects our longing for safe, cosy spaces starring wood, natural stone, ceramics and most importantly – shapes. Curved, meandering – quite explicit symbols of nature and its harmony. For anyone striving for a more organic feel in their home, it’s worth starting with the right accessories such as vases, small artworks, or textiles.

2. Back to crafts

Long gone are the days when consumers didn’t pay attention to products’ environmental impact. The trend for sustainable décor links directly with the interest in ethically sourced home accessories. It’s more than just about the fact that our vase or cushion has been made by an indigenous member of a community in Africa. What’s more important is respect for the heritage, the know-how. Standing against cultural appropriation and appreciating the origins of the tradition that makes our homes beautifully diverse.

3. The return of the traditional

The nostalgia is growing, and it shows in our interiors. Designers derive from mid-century and art deco aesthetics, raiding thrift shops & antique markets in search of genuine design gems. Back in 2021, this particular “grandmillennial” trend has just been blooming. This year it’ll take over in many forms – from floral wallpapers through colored glassware to lace tablecloths with hints of modern accessories and furniture to balance the look.

4. The oversize

No matter if you opt for minimalism or grandeur, the trend for oversized home accessories is versatile. It can add a twist to the simplest of spaces and the good news is that it’s easy implement. Interior design journals point to one décor element in particular – the pendant. An oversized chandelier or a hanging lamp will add an immediate, sophisticated feel to your home.

5. Romantic colors

Viva Magenta being the Pantone Color of the Year is just the tip of an iceberg. Bold shades will enter our interiors in much subtler forms including hints of blue or green marble or insets of lavender in a form of accessories. Quoting Jen Samson from a short interview for My Domaine: “We’re seeing a yearning for a more decadent, collected home with an underlying romanticism”. There’s no better way for a space to express its owner’s character than by mirroring a whole spectrum of his or her feelings.
